Discography

Procedure

A discogram is a diagnostic procedure where needles are placed in the intervertebral discs and contrast is injected into the discs. This may evoke pain or pressure which mimics the pain patients may be experiencing every day. This procedure is performed to help the patient and the surgeon delineate the most problematic disc and avoid unnecessary surgery or fusion at other discs that may show abnormality in a MRI.

Risks & Side Effects

There are some potential risks of infection, bleeding, allergic reaction, and pain up to a week.
